Shoemaker's house

The museum is situated in a historical wooden residential building standing on a high stone underpinning from the second half of the 18th century. It also differs from other buildings in the town square by its shape and proportions defined by the slender shingled roof comprising 2/3 of the building's height.

The basic occupation of Pszczew residents down the centuries was small-town handicrafts which explains why much of the museum's display space is accounted for by a restoration of the workshop and shop of its owner Feliks Pażdziorek who was a shoemaker as was his father Stanisław and brother Ignacy. He repaired, produced and sold footwear from the 1890s till 1955.

The house where the Pażdiorek family lived more than 50 years was called "shoemaker's house" but the history of the object goes back more than 300 years which is why the name "burgher's house" is also used.

A permanent exhibition devoted to the history of Pszczew and a photographic exhibition "Pszczew of yesteryear on photographs and postcards" is presently on show in the erstwhile residential section with the beamed ceiling decorated with double grooves and a central rosette.
