Notec Forest

The Noteć Forest comprises a compact forest complex of an area of 130,000 hectares, length of around 100 km and width reaching 20 km.

The most interesting parts of the forest are protected areas which is why several nature reserves have been established, among them the "Cegliniec", "Czaple Wyspy", "Mszar nad Jeziorem Mnich", "Świetlista Dąbrowa" and the Sieraków Landscape Park.

The Forest is renowned for the huge numbers of various species of mushrooms which grow here such as boletus, ceps, chanterelles, birch bolete, porcini and sandy knightcap.

The red deer is the largest and most characteristic representative of the fauna which live here, while the Forest also abounds in huge numbers of various species of birds especially on the banks and surface of the lakes, on the outskirts of the Forest and on its lakes.
